About Us

The Programme
The Centro UNESCO di Firenze ONLUS student programme was developed for two primary purposes. The first of which is to provide a medium which would allow everybody to experience the city of Florence to its full potential by highlighting the main attractions and current events. Secondly, student programme provides a gateway into the projects and focuses of the UNESCO Center of Florence, affording wider opportunity to understand the issues being developed, as well as partake in the ongoing events with which UNESCO of Florence is affiliated.

Heritage in Florence
"Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration." Built on the site of an Etruscan settlement, Florence, the symbol of the Renaissance, rose to economic and cultural pre-eminence under the Medici in the 15th and 16th centuries. Its 600 years of extraordinary artistic activity can be seen above all in the 13th-century cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore), the Church of Santa Croce, the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace, the work of great masters such as Giotto, Brunelleschi, Botticelli and Michelangelo.
